Addition and Subtraction in Sentence Form Connect Four Game One
Directions for Playing the Game
1.
Print off game cards on to card stock. Laminate or put into sheet protectors for durability.
2.
Each player needs different colored game tokens for a maximum of three players.
3.
Players need a six-sided dice to share.
4.
The players roll the dice to see who goes first. The player with the highest number goes first.
5.
Play begins by the first player rolling the dice. Then they choose a problem from the column of the number they rolled.
6.
They read the problem out loud. They then attempt to solve the problem in the box. If correct, they place a game token on the square. If incorrect, they do nothing, and the next player takes their turn.
7.
Play continues in the same way until one player gets four squares in a row either across, down or diagonally. The first player to do this is the winner.
8.
This game is intended to help students use mental math skills to solve addition and subtraction problems.
